Duo detained over smuggling of electrical goods in KB

Some of the electrical goods which were seized in Kuala Belait.
The Customs Preventive Division in Kuala Belait recently detained two foreign men for allegedly trying to bring in electrical appliances without a customs permit.

The two suspects, aged 26 and 32, were detained at the ferry area last Wednesday at around 7 am while they were travelling in a truck from Miri to the port.

Investigations found that the men were allegedly bringing a Nanyang Ice Crusher and two digital cameras as well as a video recorder of the model DCR- TRC 60E.

The items and the truck were confiscated for further investigation.

In another case which took place the previous day, two locals were detained for allegedly keeping alcoholic drinks at their rented house in Jln Maulan.

The first man, aged 44, allegedly kept 66 cans of beer as well as seven bottles of alcoholic drinks of different types.

Meanwhile, the other man, aged 49, was found to have kept at his place and in his car more than 70 cans of beer and 10 bottles of alcoholic drinks of various brands.

The discovery was made at 10am on 18th May and the items have been confiscated.
